Strategies for Generation Gaps

In my opinion there has been generation gaps since the beginning of time. So in reality we should be up to speed on the challenges of generations in the workplace. Perhaps the key element is admitting that generations have differences in work style and work ethics. We also need to keep in mind that being different is not necessarily a bad thing. So the answer is how can we profit from the generation gap?

First, there should be a study conducted in each organization. Meaning different people and different industries will have different issues.

1- The study should include everyone
2- Hand out a survey, include everyone
3- Set up a committee and analyze the data from the survey
4- Research this issue intently
5- Develop a strategic plan
6- Test the strategic plan
7- Implement the strategic plan

What should the strategic plan include?
A- Terms and definition, defining all of the generations in the workforce
B- Information on how sharing values can and will enhance the workplace
C- TRAINING, TRAINING, TRAINING!!!
D- Monthly evaluation on the progress(Progress Reports)
E- Cross training on the techniques and different generation skill sets

As usual, it is easier said than done. But make doubt about it, this task can be accomplished.
